Evening in Amritsar: visiting The Golden Temple! Line to get there is looong and slow. But it was fascinating experience: so many pilgrims to the holiest place of this very young religion - just 500 years old. On the photos you will see people laying everywhere, that is because anybody can spend night at the temple complex free of charge. We opted for night in a nearby hotel though. In 1984 this was place of bloodshed: Indian army stormed the complex during operation Blue Star. It is commonly believed that then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards few months after the operation as retaliation for ordering army advance on the holy place.
